Skolkovo announce their presence on the MBA sailing circuit with a big win in Greece!

The team from Moscow’s Skolkovo School of Management scored a near perfect 6 points from 5 races to announce their presence on the MBA sailing circuit, leaving the rest of the pack trailing in their wake.  The Global MBA Trophy regatta, in Piraeus, Greece, saw 8 teams competing in Platu 25 Sportsboats in Division A and 3 teams compete in Bavaria 42s in Division B.

Skolkovo came first in the last four races, having come second in the first race of the regatta. Nearest challengers LBS scored three times as many points with 18, while the third place of the podium was taken up by the INSEAD/MIP/Bocconi mixed crew with 20 points. EPFL win back – to – back Rolex MBA Regattas

epflThe team from EPFL, Lausanne won their second Rolex MBA Regatta in Santa Margharita Ligure, Italy.  The EPFL team now have back- to- back successes, having been the champions of the same regatta in 2012.

The team from Manchester Business School came second, and the podium was rounded out with Tuck business school; Bocconi’s crew came in fourth.

EPFL won the Beneteau 36.7 fleet, then beat Tuck in the semi- finals, finally beating Manchester in the finals of the match racing.  The Jeanneau Sunfast 37 fleet was won by Tuck. London Consolidate on top of the rankings

182131_361050597296498_1517972939_n-e1344174985834London Business School’s first place in the Global MBA trophy means that they consolidate their place at the top of the MBA Sailing rankings, with their lead growing to 8 points over INSEAD.

Second Place in  Athens’ Kellogg/WHU climb 3 places in the rankings to 8th. 3rd place INSEAD remain at second, while AUEB re- enter the rankings at 24th.

London Business School Win the 2012 MBA Sailing League

London Business School, despite only managing 11th place in the Rolex MBAs Cup Regatta were only 2 places behind their main rivals, INSEAD, and so retained the lead in the 2012 MBA Sailing League to win the title for the second time.

INSEAD, with 9th place in the Bocconi regatta came second, while Bocconi, who were second in Santa Margharita came third.  Fourth and fifth places were claimed by Cranfield and Rotterdam – both with good showings in Italy. Continue reading “London Business School Win the 2012 MBA Sailing League”

Lausanne win the Rolex Regatta

EPFL,  Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne’s crew won the 2012 Rolex MBAs Conference and Regatta at Santa Margharita Ligure. It was only the second time the school had competed at the regatta.

EPFL won the Jeanneau 37 fleet, and then went on to win the match racing final against hosts SDA Bocconi, having beaten Cranfield in the semi- finals. This was Cranfield’s second participation in the regatta, and the second time that they’ve made the podium.

The Benneteau Fleet was won by Boconni, with Cranfield second and RSM third, while IE were second in the Jeanneau fleet, their best showing yet at the Rolex Regatta with Tuck in third.

2011’s winning team from Sauder could only manage 10th in the Benneteaus, while MBA Sailing league leaders LBS came one place behind their closest rivals, Insead  in 6th and 5th respectively in the Jeanneaus. Continue reading “Lausanne win the Rolex Regatta”

London take over the top of the 2012 League

London Business School’s 3rd place in the Cranfield Regatta, along with their first place at the ABC and 5th in Athens means that they lead the 2012 MBA sailing league with two events still to come.  Insead drop from joint first to second, with their sixth place at Cranfield.

The 2012 league is made up of five events: the Global MBA Trophy, The ABC, The Cranfield Regatta, the RSM Regatta and the Rolex MBA’s Cup.

Cranfield winners Leeds and second place Cranfield take up 3rd and 4th spots in the league respectively, while Bocconi climb to 5th.

Insead hold onto top spot in the rankings

Insead’s 6th place at the Cranfield Regatta was enough for them to hold onto the number 1 position in the MBA sailing rankings.  They are three points ahead of London Business School, whose 3rd place on the Solent brings them above Bocconi into second. Warwick and Leeds round out the top five, climbing as MIP Milano and Manchester drop out.

The MBA Sailing Rankings are based on the past rolling 12 months of MBA sailing, so are currently made up of the 2011 Rolex MBA’s cup, the 2012 Global MBA Trophy, 2012 ABC and 2012 Cranfield regatta.

LBS and Insead share the top spot in the 2012 League

London Business School’s win at the ABC, combined with their 5th place in Athens means they are level on points with 2011 MBA Sailing League champions Insead after two events.

IMD’s second place in LA Trinite Sur Mer brings them into third place in the standings, three points behind the joint leaders. Fourth and fifth place go to ABC 5th & 6th place HEC and WU.

Meanwhile, Bocconi’s 13th place at the ABC means they fall down from the number 1 spot they occupied down to joint 9th, and MIP’s 11th place means they fall from 2nd to equal 6th.

No Change at the top of the MBA Sailing Rankings

Insead’s third place at the ABC regatta means they stay top of the MBA sailing rankings, while Bocconi’s 13th place was just enough to keep them in second place – one point ahead of LBS in 3rd.  The only change in the top 5 is a return for Warwick, as they scored a 10th place in LA Trinite, having not participated in 2011.
