MIT make it two years in a row at the Rolex regatta

For the second year running, the crew from MIT Sloan won the Rolex MBA Conference and regatta. They were held close by a strong Bocconi team.

The regatta, as always, took place off the Ligurian coast, based out of Santa Margharita Ligure, Italy.

The MIT crew had come first in the Beneteau 36.7 division on Friday and Saturday on countback,  on the same points as Bocconi, both teams winning two races and coming second in two.

They had a blip in Sunday’s semi- final, coming second to the team from IMD, but went on to win the four boat final, pushing Bocconi, who had won their own semi final,  into second place.

League leaders Skolkovo were not qualified to participate.

MIT Sloan are Rolex Champions!

The team from MIT Sloan beat the Bocconi boat in the final of the match racing to take home the trophy at the Rolex MBAs Regatta.

The crews had battled light winds in the end- of season finale, off the Ligurian coast, based out of Santa Margharita Ligure.

The MIT crew had come first in the Beneteau 36.7 division on Friday and Saturday, with three firsts and a second place, and they carried that form through the match racing finals on the Sunday.

Second place Bocconi, meanwhile had been lying fourth in the 36.7 fleet, only just qualifying for the match racing, but managed to beat all except the team from Cambridge Massachusetts in the one- one – one format. Continue reading “MIT Sloan are Rolex Champions!”

No change in league or rankings after RSM regatta

With LBS, Insead and Kellogg coming in 3rd and joint 4th at the RSM regatta, their spots at the top of the rankings are unchanged.  As there were only 7 crews competing, Cranfield do not lose out heavily from missing the regatta, and stay third in the 2014 league. Meanwhile the top places taken by Skolkovo and LUM in Lelystad do not help much as both missed Cranfield and Bocconi last year. LUM do climb 5 places to 12=, and Skolkovo 2 places to 8=

Win at Cranfield helps LBS climb to the top of the league

LBS-Sailing-LogoLondon Business School’s first place at the Cranfield regatta helps them climb one place to the top of the 2014 MBA sailing league.  Insead, who were top after their victory at the ABC regatta and their third place in Athens drop seven places to 8th, because they did not participate in England.

Skolkovo, who kicked the 2014 season off in first place are now down to 10th.

Kellogg/WHU’s third place at Cranfield along with their placings at the ABC and the GMT mean that they take second place in the league. Cranfield’s second place in the Solent means that they are propelled to third overall.

The top 5 is made up by HEC and Henley, both of whom have competed in two regattas this year.

HEC shoot up the rankings

HEC, participating at the Cranfield regatta for the first time in many years, shot up the rankings from 19th to 4th, with a creditable 7th place.  HEC have now sailed at 3 of the 5 regattas in the last 12 months.

The rankings take all the results in league regattas in the last 12 months into account.

London Business School’s first place at the Cranfield Regatta sees them stay top of the rankings, where they’ve been since the RSM regatta in 2012.

INSEAD, by not competing at Cranfield for the second year running, racked up a massive 20 points, and stay second in the rankings despite having won both the RSM regatta and the ABC in the last 12 months.

Kellogg/WHU remain third, with their fine third place at Cranfield.

Other climbers in the rankings include BAth, up 7 places to 8= after coming 4th at Cranfield, MIP up 10 places to 12th, having missed Cranfield in 2013 and Aston in the table for the first time at 17=.
