ABC Regatta will be 30 May – 2 June

From the organisers of the ABC Regatta:

Friendship, Glory  and … Sun!
We are delighted to inform you than the ABcup Regatta is now back in the Mediterranean and will be sailed off Marseille, a vibrant French city designated 2013 European Capital of Culture.

The races will take place in the wonderful sailing arena framed by the Frioul Islands and the spectacular coastline formed by the hills and mountains around Marseille. No wonder Marseille is the first stop on the World Match Racing Tour.

The boats will be Gd Surprise (actually not much surprise there), still the nice sailing toys most of us relish the opportunity to race.

The fleet will be moored in the Islands of Frioul, a conservation area of great beauty. A 15min ferry ride will take us there everyday from le Vieux Port de Marseille.
The programme differs slightly from previous years. Please, have a careful look on thebottom of the post before making travel arrangements.
The 2013 programme allows  participants to travel to Marseille early on Thursday morning rather than Wednesday. However, the return has to be booked later on Sunday.

Accomodation will be in a 2-3 star hotel of good quality, located 200m from the Vieux Port, where the shuttles to the Frioul islands start from.
As usual the onshore gatherings, cocktails, dinners and … activities will  all provide opportunities for your crewmates to engage, shine and have fun.
The weather statistics suggest more use of sun lotion and T-shirts than last year!
——–Balancing the accounts ——–
Whilst the fine tuning is yet to be done, we are trying to maintain our usual all included cost of ca. € 5,000 per boat (7people)
Please not, this year, the accommodation (already booked) is packaged within the race fee. This is due to Marseille – the 2013 European Capital for Culture – being more vibrant this year than usual. Therefore, taking chances with last minute hotel booking is not an option.
