MIP win the MBA Global Sailing League for the first time

Global MBA Trophy 2018Scoring a second place in the First 36.7 fleet at the MBA’s Cup regatta in Italy, first place at the Global MBA Trophy in Greece and second at the MBA Winter regatta in Lanzarote, MIP advanced to the top of the MBA sailing league as the season ended. This is the first time the team from Milan have won the league. The full league table can be found here.

In a year where there was no ABC regatta, all five results counted, which meant that Skolkovo, who had been leading the standings with three first places in Lanzarote, The Solent and Porto missed out by scoring 20 points by not participating in Sta Margherita. MIP win the Global MBA Trophy 2018 in Athens

MIP won the GMT regatta, in Pireaus, Greece; Bocconi coming second and Skolkovo third.

Skolkovo win MBA Winter Regatta 2018

Skolkovo’s crew won the IE MBA Winter regatta in March 2018.

MIP came second and IE 3rd in Lanzarote.

INSEAD are the 2017 Sunsail MBA Global Sailing League Champions

22449793_870626063096960_908794931433048489_nAfter scoring their third first place of the year at the Rolex MBA’s Conference and Regatta, INSEAD stamped their authority on the league, scoring half the points of their two nearest rivals. The full league table can be found here.

INSEAD won at the start of the season in Lanzarote, in the middle of the year on the Solent, and then at the end of the season at Santa Margherita. In the meantime, they came third at the ABC and 4th at the Global MBA Trophy, and discard their points from the RSM regatta. Warwick, with Kellogg-WHU, claims its first victory in the league

21272688_764980960351263_5940324226430673323_oA combined Warwick and Kellogg-WHU team claimed first place at the RSM regatta in Porto, Portugal. Warwick have not won a regatta until now in the history of the league and WHU’s last victory dates back to the same event in 2012.

This was the first edition of the RSM regatta in its new roaming format: future editions will take place in various locations across Europe, rather than in the Netherlands. It was sailed in First 7.5 sports boats.

The win was down to consistent racing over the seven race series. The crew scoring first and second places in six races and a third in the seventh. Meanwhile, second place Skolkovo’s three first places were marred by an OCS and a DSQ for missing a gate. MIP and Chicago were level on points with MIP coming home with third, having won a race. INSEAD stake their claim to the 2017 title with Cranfield Regatta Win

INSEAD won their second regatta of the year at the Cranfield Regatta on the Solent, off the South coast of England. Once again, a regatta was dominated by a single team, as Kit Glover’s crew won five of the six races.

The Sunsail MBA Global Sailing League’s fourth regatta was the biggest to date with 13 teams lining up on the start line, with a strong contingent from the host school, Cranfield, with six boats.

Skolkovo retain the ABC title

The team from Skolkovo kept hold of the Alumni Business Cup trophy, through a strong performance on the water on the Ligurian coast off Sestri Levante, Italy. They pipped London Business School by just 2 points in the end, after a relatively poor performance in the onshore games, which LBS won.

This was the third regatta in the Sunsail MBA Global Sailing League.

Evgeniya Semykina’s team won seven out of the ten races, with LBS taking six second places. But the onshore games could not be discarded, and so the regatta came down to the last two races.

Third place was taken by Marc LeBorgne’s INSEAD team, keeping the French School’s claim on the league going strong. HEC, Kellogg/WHU and a second INSEAD boat made up the six- strong fleet. Continue reading “Skolkovo retain the ABC title”

Victory for MIP in Pireaus

The team from MIP Politecnico di Milano almost had the perfect regatta, securing first place in the first five races, before dropping to third for the final competition. Ugo Alvazzi del Frate’s crew held off strong challenges from Skolkovo and Bocconi, who finished second and third respectively.

The regatta, the second of the Sunsail MBA Global Sailing League series, was held in the waters of the Faliron Bay, off Mikrolimano harbour in Pireaus, the port of Athens on the 28th and 29th April. racing was on Platu 25 sports boats, and was supervised by the Yacht Club of Greece, in whose amazing club house, the final prizegiving and dinner took place.  Continue reading “Victory for MIP in Pireaus”

London Business School are the 2016 Sunsail MBA Global Sailing League Champions

182131_361050597296498_1517972939_n-e1344174985834Following their fourth place at the Rolex MBAs Cup regatta in Sta Margherita, LBS finish the year on 19 points, four ahead of Skolkovo who did not participate in Italy.

London Business School won the Cranfield regatta and came second in Athens, while coming in fifth at the ABC and missing the RSM regatta.  Skolkovo won three out of the four regattas they participated in, coming second at Cranfield.
