MIP win the MBA Global Sailing League for the first time
Scoring a second place in the First 36.7 fleet at the MBA’s Cup regatta in Italy, first place at the Global MBA Trophy in Greece and second at the MBA Winter regatta in Lanzarote, MIP advanced to the top of the MBA sailing league as the season ended. This is the first time the team from Milan have won the league. The full league table can be found here.
In a year where there was no ABC regatta, all five results counted, which meant that Skolkovo, who had been leading the standings with three first places in Lanzarote, The Solent and Porto missed out by scoring 20 points by not participating in Sta Margherita. MIP won the GMT regatta, in Pireaus, Greece; Bocconi coming second and Skolkovo third.
After scoring their third first place of the year at the Rolex MBA’s Conference and Regatta, INSEAD stamped their authority on the league, scoring half the points of their two nearest rivals. The full league table can be found
A combined Warwick and Kellogg-WHU team claimed first place at the RSM regatta in Porto, Portugal. Warwick have not won a regatta until now in the history of the league and WHU’s last victory dates back to the same event in 2012.

The team from Skolkovo kept hold of the Alumni Business Cup trophy, through a strong performance on the water on the Ligurian coast off Sestri Levante, Italy. They pipped London Business School by just 2 points in the end, after a relatively poor performance in the onshore games, which LBS won.
The team from MIP Politecnico di Milano almost had the perfect regatta, securing first place in the first five races, before dropping to third for the final competition. Ugo Alvazzi del Frate’s crew held off strong challenges from Skolkovo and Bocconi, who finished second and third respectively.
Following their fourth place at the Rolex MBAs Cup regatta in Sta Margherita, LBS finish the year on 19 points, four ahead of Skolkovo who did not participate in Italy.
