10 teams line up in Garda for the POLIMI regatta

The magnificent backdrop of Lake Garda in North Italy is the scene for the next eposode in the MBA Sailing League, hosted by POLIMI GSoM . 10 teams have lined up to compete for the regatta.

POLIMI lead the MBA Sailing League 2023

POLIMI GSoM are the 2023 season’s first leaders after their win at the GLobal MBA Trophy in Pireaus. The table matches that of the LBS- hosted Greek regatta.

London Business School meanwhile top the 12 – month rankings, replacing a 4th place in 2022 with a 6th this year.

LBS are 2022 MBA SAiling League Champions

London Business School’s 3rd place at the IE Halloween regatta was enough to clinch the title of MBA Sailing League Champions for 2022. The only school to take part in all four regattas of 2022, London won the POLIMI regatta in Capri and the RSM regatta in Porto, coming 4th in the LBS Global MBA Trophy in Athens.

MIP/POLIMI’s win in Athens and 3rd place in Capri helped them to second place, while Imperial’s second place in Lanzarote sees them leapfrog Tuck into third. Tuck’s second in Athens means they take 4th place and IE’s win in Lanzarote means they round out the top 5.

First time racing skipper wins the IE Halloween Regatta

The IE crew led by Caroline Klass won in style on the second day of the Halloween regatta held in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote. The host team came away with two wins a second and a third, to head the table on 4 points after a discard. It was Caroline’s first regatta as skipper of a keelboat, and she and her crew took full advantage of the light conditions.

Porto win puts LBS top of the MBA Sailing League

London Business School’s win at the RSM regatta in Porto puts them top of the 2022 MBA Global Sailing League, climbing above MIP and leading by 2 points.

RSM’s second place in Porto means they move into joint 6th place alongside Porto 3rd place team Oxford.

LBS’s crew brought home the trophy from RSM’s regatt held in Porto, Portugal. The team scored 6 first places in the 3- team regatta, winning convincingly from RSM in second place and Oxford in third.

Select field lines up for RSM regatta in Porto

The RSM regatta, held in Porto, Portugal takes place on 30 June – 2 July. The organisers have announced a select field for the racing.

The participants will be Rotterdam School of Management, London Business School and Oxford Said Business School.

The regatta will combine fleet and match racing in the Douro river mouth and the Atlantic.

Rankings after POLIMI Regatta

The POLIMI team, formerly MIP, maintain their lead in the 2022 MBA League with third place in their own regatta. London Business School advance to 2nd after their 1st place. Otherwise the top 5 remain the same.

In the rankings, LBS also climb to second, with Kellogg/WHU in 3rd.

London Business School win in Capri

London Business School crews took first and second place at the POLIMI regatta held in Capri, Italy on 27- 29 May. The regatta was raced with cruising yachts with a number of coastal passages: From nearby Procida to Capri on Friday followed by a series of stages around Capri on Saturday. An “inshore” race – in the form of a quiz also formed part of the scoring system.

There were 8 crews at the regatta: 4 from hosts POLIMI (MIP), 3 from LBS and 1 from IE. The podium was: LBS 1, LBS 2, MIP 4.

Global MBA Trophy announces 2023 dates

London Business School Alumni Sailing Club and the Yacht Club of Greece have announced the dates of the 2023 Global MBA Trophy regatta: Thursday 20th April – Sunday 23rd April. The location will once again be Microlimano harbour in Piraeus, Greece.
