Skolkovo brought in their second victory of the 2019 season with the win in Capri at the Alumni Business Cup, organised by MIP. It was a close- fought regatta, the Russian team winning by 4 points thanks to two race wins and a win in the shore games, against INSEAD 2’s three race wins, but inconsistent form in races 3 and 4 cost INSEAD 2 the regatta. The Global MBA Trophy, in its 15th edition, moved to England and the Isle of Wight for an offshore version: A 50nautical mile circumnavigation of the island. The race took place on Friday 26th April, setting off early at 0800 to catch the best tidal currents and was raced hard through the Solent and around the South side of the island.
The front of the fleet was a battle between home team LBS, Skolkovo and INSEAD, with LBS leading up to the last mark, where they decided to not drop their spinnaker, only to see INSEAD slip inside them and away. The IESE Spring games joined the MBA Sailing league for the first time in 2019. The sailing regatta was held off Barcelona, and occurred alongside the competitions in many other sports, and shared the evening festivities with them

Moscow’s Skolkovo business school took away the top two places at 
the IE Winter regatta in Lanzarote. Winning three out of the four points races between them.
INSEAD took the third spot on the podium.
The first day of racing in Puerto Calero was cancelled due to high winds.
The regatta was divided into two classes by the results of the early race positions (Division A the leading boats and Division B the remainder), with both classes starting together but points being awarded based on the position in class. The IESE Spring games has been taking place in Barcelona in early April for many years, and in recent years has included a regular regatta. As the regatta has taken place for three consecutive years, and hosted multiple other schools, it now qualifies for the MBA Sailing league.
The 2019 event takes place on 5 – 7 April, as part of a multi- sport competition organised by the IESE business school.

The Alumni Business Cup returns in 2019, in the glamorous playground of Capri in the Bay of Naples, Italy.
Organised by the MIP sailing club, the regatta takes place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th May, with a skippers briefing on Thursday 23rd. The boats are Este 24 sportsboats, with teams of 4 to 6 competitors. There will also be a “Cruising” division.
The Este division costs €3,750 for a team, which includes hotel accommodation, while the cruising division costs €6,000.

The organisers of the Global MBA Trophy have announced a special “Offshore” event for the 15th edition of this regatta.
London Business School have returned the regatta, normally held in Greece, to home waters off the South coast of England, and upped the adventure quota: The regatta will feature a day’s offshore racing in a famous 50 nautical mile route around the Isle of Wight.
Participants will race one design Beneteau First 40 racing boats. Crews of up to 10 people. The boats will be collected from Port Solent, with hand over at the Sunsail office. Early bird participation fee per boat is 3,6000 pounds for an 8 person crew, £350 per additional crew member up to 10 persons. Deposit required by 19 January 2019. Late applications pay £200 more/boat . Accommodation for up to 8 sleepers is available on the boats – participants should bring their own bedding.

The Instituto de Empresa (IE) business school has announced the dates for its MBA Winter Regatta, which will again be held in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote. The racing will be on Saturday and Sunday 19/10 March, with participants arriving on 8 March and returning on the 11th.
There is an “Early bird” sign- up system in place: The cost was €529/ person until 9 December, and €579 thereafter until 27 January. Late signups cost €629. Sign up is via the IE sailing club website https://clubs.ie.edu/iesailing/events/
Scoring a second place in the First 36.7 fleet at the MBA’s Cup regatta in Italy, first place at the Global MBA Trophy in Greece and second at the MBA Winter regatta in Lanzarote, MIP advanced to the top of the MBA sailing league as the season ended. This is the first time the team from Milan have won the league. The full league table can be found here.
In a year where there was no ABC regatta, all five results counted, which meant that Skolkovo, who had been leading the standings with three first places in Lanzarote, The Solent and Porto missed out by scoring 20 points by not participating in Sta Margherita.
