Skolkovo MBA Trophy 2020 is cancelled

The organisers of the Skolkovo MBA Trophy have announced the cancellation of the regatta.
Skolkovo MBA Trophy 2020 cancellation due to COVID-19!
Skolkovo Sailing Team is very sad to inform you that Skolkovo MBA Trophy 2020(May 28-31, 2020) is now officially cancelled.
It was difficult decision for us but every regional government in the Russian federation has approved an order instituting a high-alert status due to the continuing spread of coronavirus infections. As a result, all schools and higher education institutions in Russia’s 83 federal subjects will be shifted to remote learning, and all public or athletic events have been cancelled. Moscow are going to close airports from the 30 of March too.
We would like to thank all of you for having registered! All registered Skolkovo MBA Trophy 2020 participants, who paid deposits, will be fully refunded!
We look forward to see all of you on Skolkovo MBA Trophy next time! We let you know about next Skolkovo MBA Trophy dates as soon as we will know it.
Thanks a lot for your understanding.
We wish you and your family health in this difficult time!

Alumni Business Cup in Hamburg postponed until 2021

The organisers of the Global MBA Trophy, which was due to take place in Hamburg, Germany on the 21-24 May  have announced the postponement of the regatta. It will now take place on a yet to be confirmed date in May 2021

The following post was issued on the event website’s blog:

The organisers of the 2020 ABCup, i.e. WHU/Kellogg sailing team and the Alumni Business Cup Association are very sad that the 2020 ABCup Regatta (May 21-24, 2020) is now officially cancelled.

This frustrating decision is aligned with the most recent instructions issued by the Hamburg government and the health authorities, who have called off all group and touristic events in Hamburg for the next 6 weeks – with possible extensions into May. Whilst we’re very disappointed, we fully understand and support the government’s decision

All registered ABCup participants will be fully refunded in the coming days!

We take this opportunity to thank our sponsors for their much-appreciated support.

The ABCup Regatta has been around for more than a quarter of a century and will not surrender to Corona. It will be back next year! We look forward to seeing all the best teams on 2021 ABCup starting line next year!

IESE Barcelona Spring Games regatta cancelled

The organisers of the Spring Games, IESE business school, have cancelled the event, due to take place on March 20th – 22nd. The following email was sent to participants last week:

Important Announcement

Over the last weeks, we have been monitoring the progression of COVID-19 in all participants’ regions and here in Barcelona. After multiple consultations with stakeholders, including public authorities  and IESE’s dedicated COVID-19 Committee, the organizing team has decided to cancel IESE Spring Games 2020 due to COVID-19 and the health & travel uncertainties associated with it.

This is a decision we did not take lightly and is a disappointing culmination of 10 months of intense work by a group of extremely dedicated students. As much as we’d like to push through, we cannot ignore the health and safety not only of the participants, but the MBA communities and families that would likely be affected as well.

What’s Next

We have engaged in discussions with our suppliers, venues and service providers to fully assess the financial implications of the cancellation and potentially get refunded on expenses (e.g. deposits, orders) that have already been incurred. Following this process, partial refunds will be processed to all participants. Please rest assured that we are doing our absolute best to provide the maximum refund possible to each participant. We thank you for your patience as we work through this process.

No one is more disappointed than us about having to cancel Spring Games this year.

Milan’s MIP romped home in first place, in the J/24 division, in both races at the Bocconi One Ocean MBA’s Conference and Regatta held for the first time away from the Ligurian Coast in Porto Cervo, Sardinia.

In the Offshore Division, Harvard won the only race, with RSM(2nd) and Chicago(3rd) making up the podium.

For a change, the regatta was held in testing windy conditions, which were indeed too windy on the second day, when racing was cancelled. The regatta and conference is organised by SDA Bocconi, also from Milano. Continue reading “MIP and Harvard win the Bocconi Regatta”
