Bocconi win again in Cascais

The IE 2025 Regatta in Cascais, Portugal, wrapped up the MBA sailing season in fitting style, being the final event on the circuit. With seven competitive races and ten teams the stage was set for a high-stakes conclusion. One discard was allowed, putting a premium on consistency and tactical precision — a challenge that Bocconi met head-on to seal a decisive overall victory.

The regatta’s A division was sailed in J70 sports boats, with an AB division of 30- ft Grand Surprise racing yachts and a B division of cruising yachts also racing on the water off Cascais.

Bocconi delivered a strong performance throughout the regatta, with top-four finishes in every race they sailed, including three race wins. After six races, they had already secured the championship mathematically, allowing them to sit out the final race without affecting their position. Their DNC in Race 7 was discarded, leaving them with a commanding net score of 10 points — a dominant finish to an already impressive season.

Bocconi win in Cascais

SDA Bocconi’s sailing team won their third MBA regatta out of the four in 2024 in Cascais last weekend (27/28 September). In a complex series of races, they qualified for the 5 boat final by coming second in their heats on day 1, and then coming top in their heats on day 2.

The final came down to the wire. It consisted of 5 teams: IE Guillermo, IE Emanuele, IE Artem, SDA Bocconi and LBS. The winner was to be the first to two race wins. IE Guillermo were leading going into the final, and so were awarded one race win already, so only needing one more win.

The first race of the final was won by SDA Bocconi, as they got past LBS and IE Guillermo who were battling for a spot and broaching out. The second race of the final was won by LBS. So going into the third race, any one of these three boats could win the regatta. The SDA Bocconi team then brought it home.
