Bocconi leading the 2024 league

Bocconi’s close win at the RSM regatta in Valletta, Malta sees them return to the top spot of the 2024 MBA sailing league. They have 2 wins and a 6th, having not competed in Sardinia. LBS, missing the Malta regatta drop to second in the league, just 2 points behind them, while IE are third with their 2nd place, and being an ever- present in the 2024 season.

In the 12 month rankings, LBS stay top, although level on points with IE. Bocconi are third.

The season will see a final showdown in Cascais for the IE regatta in September. All three teams will be there. Bocconi need to finish less than 2 places behind LBS to win the 2024 league.

Bocconi pip IE to the RSM Regatta title

The crew from SDA Bocconi, won the 8- race RSM Regatta on the 19/20 July 2024 in Malta. They won three of the races in the regatta, placing 2nd in two and 3rd in two more. They pipped the regatta leaders, IE in the final race, when IE scored a 5th place, after having won 4 of teh preceeding races. The remaining race was won by the “Caviar” team, while Imperial filled up the podium.

Six teams were racing SB20 sportsboats in the picturesque waters off Valletta, Malta. The regatta was organised by the RSM sailing club and hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club. Participants were hosted at a nearby hotel and enjoyed Maltese hospitality each evening.

London Business School take the lead at the season’s half-way point

With a first in Italy and a second place in Greece, London Business school are topping the MBA Sailing League after the first two events of 2024’s 4- event series. POLIMI sit in second place with a second and a third place. Athens champions, SDA Bocconi, who didn’t make it to Sardinia sit in third.

LBS also move top in the 12- month rankings, which take into account all the regattas since this time last year. IE sit second and POLIMI third.

London Business School win in Sardinia

London Business School won the POLIMI regatta held at Cala dei Sardi in Sardinia, Italy, despite being unable to start the final race in the regatta when their rudder fixings snapped. The team scored three race wins in the 6 race series, to come top, level on points with the POLIMI 1 and POLIMI 2 teams. POLIMI 2 scored 2 race wins, and POLIMI 1 won the remaining race.

In Division B, the crew from POLIMI won both races, with IE/POLIMI second and POLIMI/IE third in each.

Bocconi stay consistent to lift the Global MBA Trophy 2024

The crew from SDA Bocconi won the 2024 Global MBA Trophy over a 4- race day sailed out of Microlimano harbour in Piraeus, Greece on the 13th April. The crew, led by Gianpiero Menza came home in 4th, 2nd, 3rd and 1st, to win the trophy by 3 points. There were 12 teams racing in the “A” division of the regatta, from 9 business schools.

ABC regatta 2024 cancelled

Message from the organisers of the Alumni Business Cup 2024:

The IE and LBS Sailing Clubs regret to announce that the 2024 edition of the Alumni Business Cup in Alicante will not be held as scheduled on 13-15 June. Logistical challenges, and the weekend falling during peak season in the Alicante sailing calendar, meant that we would have been unable to deliver the regatta at the advertised price.

While we are disappointed not to be able to host you in Alicante this June, we hope to be able to put together the event at another time in the near future. Thank you for your understanding, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

4 Weeks to the start of the 2024 Season!

The 2024 MBA sailing season starts on 12 April in Piraeus, Greece, with the Global MBA Trophy. The organisers are expecting 27 teams from 14 business schools at the 2- day regatta. There will be three divisions: Platu 25 sports boats in Division A, competing for the Trophy and spots in the MBA Sailing League. New, high powered First 53 racer- cruisers in Division B+ and a mixed fleet of 40+ft cruisers in Divison B.

183 participants will join 16 local skippers and mates on the water, hosted by London Business School’s Alumni Sailing Club, with racing managed and the gala prize giving hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club of Greece.

RSM Regatta moves to Malta!

The organisers of the RSM MBA Regatta have announced that the 2024 event will be held on the picturesque and historic island of Malta. The dates of the regatta are 18- 21 July.

This will be the 13th edition of the regatta . It will be sailed in 4-person SB20 sports boats, hosted by the Royal Malta Yacht Club. The regatta price is €650 per person. Crews will stay in a local hotel.

ABC Regatta moves to Spain for 2024

The Alumni Business Cup is the longest running of the MBA regattas, dating back to 1992. The 2024 edition will be sailed in J/22 boats in the Mediterranean Sea off the Spanish sailing venue of Alicante. The dates are 13- 16 June.

Up to 4 crew can sail the J/22s, and the cost per boat is €2,360. A “B” divisionsailing cruising boats is available for teams of up to 8, at €4,720 per boat. More details on the ABC regatta page at mbasailing.com. Also at the ABC web page and the 2024 edition sign up page
