London Business School’s win at the RSM regatta in Porto puts them top of the 2022 MBA Global Sailing League, climbing above MIP and leading by 2 points.
RSM’s second place in Porto means they move into joint 6th place alongside Porto 3rd place team Oxford.
LBS’s crew brought home the trophy from RSM’s regatt held in Porto, Portugal. The team scored 6 first places in the 3- team regatta, winning convincingly from RSM in second place and Oxford in third.
As there was only one MBA Sailing League regatta in 2021 – RSM’s regatta in Porto, Portugal, the top placing business school team at that regatta become the league champions. Step forward the crew from Kellogg/WHU!
The mixed team (including one crew member from INSEAD, and one from Oxford) came top of the points table at the RSM regatta in Porto, Portugal last weekend. They had a dominant first day, with 3 first places, and managed to hold onto first place with 2 second places on day 2.
The podium was made up of Kellogg/WHU, who found their mojo on day two, finishing the regatta with three bullets to end up second, and RSM who scored consistently to finish third, level on points.
Chicago Booth complete the list of competitors, with Skolkovo scored DNC in all races, after having to pull out due to international travel issues.
The RSM Regatta, which was due to take place on 2- 5 July 2020 was cancelled despite the efforts of the organisers. Not enough crews could make the original dates or the proposed new dates in August for the event to go ahead. Quarantine restrictions on travellers returning from Portugal meant that many teams were unable to participate.
The regatta had introduced special rules to deal with the Coronavirus, requiring all participants to have undergone a Covid 19 test in the 72 hours prior to the regatta and to have tested negative.
The Bocconi MBAs conference and regatta, due to take place at the end of September, will also not take place this year due to the impact of Covid 19 on gatherings in Italy, and increased travel restrictions around the world.
The 2020 Rotterdam School of Management MBA Regatta will return to Porto, in Portugal. The dates are announced as Thursday, 2nd July to Sunday July 5th, a move to high summer for the regatta. It will be sailed in Platu 25s.

Scoring a second place in the First 36.7 fleet at the MBA’s Cup regatta in Italy, first place at the Global MBA Trophy in Greece and second at the MBA Winter regatta in Lanzarote, MIP advanced to the top of the MBA sailing league as the season ended. This is the first time the team from Milan have won the league. The full league table can be found here.
In a year where there was no ABC regatta, all five results counted, which meant that Skolkovo, who had been leading the standings with three first places in Lanzarote, The Solent and Porto missed out by scoring 20 points by not participating in Sta Margherita.
