Bocconi are 2025 MBA Sailing League Champions

SDA Bocconi’s sailing teams have ended the 2025 season as champions of the MBA Sailing League. Following their victory in Cascais, Portugal, the crew from the Milan- based business school crowned a season where they’ve consistently finished in the top 4 of regattas, scoring 2nd in Greece and Malta and first in Portugal. Bocconi were the defending 2024 champions and retain the MBA Sailing league trophy, which will be presented to them at the Global MBA Trophy regatta in Piraeus in April 2026.

Tight at the top of the league

POLIMI GSoM sit at the top of the MBA Sailing League after two regattas, but with only 4 points separating first and fifth place, everything is still to play for in 2025.

The POLIMI team have 5 points scoring 3rd at the Global MBA Trophy in Greece and 2nd in the POLIMI regatta in Sardinia. Just behind are SDA Bocconi on 6 points, with a 2nd and a 4th, then LBS with 7 points, IE with 8 and Imperial with 9 points.

Next up is the RSM regatta in Malta in July.

Imperial win the Global MBA Trophy 2025

Imperial college Business School lifted the Global MBA Trophy aloft in Piraeus, Greece after two days of hard- fought racing. They beat 2024’s winners, SDA Bocconi into second place and 2023’s winners , POLIMI GSoM into third, scoring two wins, two second places and a third place. Racing was in Platu 25 sports boats. The event was presented in partnership with Mastercard by London Business School Alumni Sailing Club and the Yacht Club of Greece.

Global MBA Trophy 2025 is a sell-out!

London Business School have announced that the 2025 Global MBA Trophy has sold all the boats lined up for the regatta. The racing, which will take place in the bay off Piraus, Greece will have 12 “division A” Platu 25 sports boats competing for the trophy and for league points. It will also have 5 “division B+” racer – cruiser boats, and 11 “division B” cruising boats racing in their respective categories. Over 180 participants are expected, with over 200 sailors in total. The regatta will be hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club of Greece.

The Global MBA Trophy has had 18 previous editions in the years since it first took place in 2006.

London Business School alumni Sailing Club, the organiser of the Global MBA Trophy have announced the dates of the 2025 edition. It will be held on 10 – 13 April 2025. The venue, as in previous years will be Microlimano harbour in Piraeus, near Athens, Greece. The event will be hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club of Greece.

Racing will be in 25ft Platu 25 sports boats and 40ft+ cruising boats.

Bocconi stay consistent to lift the Global MBA Trophy 2024

The crew from SDA Bocconi won the 2024 Global MBA Trophy over a 4- race day sailed out of Microlimano harbour in Piraeus, Greece on the 13th April. The crew, led by Gianpiero Menza came home in 4th, 2nd, 3rd and 1st, to win the trophy by 3 points. There were 12 teams racing in the “A” division of the regatta, from 9 business schools.

4 Weeks to the start of the 2024 Season!

The 2024 MBA sailing season starts on 12 April in Piraeus, Greece, with the Global MBA Trophy. The organisers are expecting 27 teams from 14 business schools at the 2- day regatta. There will be three divisions: Platu 25 sports boats in Division A, competing for the Trophy and spots in the MBA Sailing League. New, high powered First 53 racer- cruisers in Division B+ and a mixed fleet of 40+ft cruisers in Divison B.

183 participants will join 16 local skippers and mates on the water, hosted by London Business School’s Alumni Sailing Club, with racing managed and the gala prize giving hosted by the prestigious Yacht Club of Greece.

London Business School, organisers of the 18th Global MBA Trophy in Piraeus, Athens, Greece in April 2024 have announced a preliminary list of participants.

Early Bird sign- up ends on 31 January. Also, after that date, the regatta will accept second entries from individual schools for division A spots.

Global MBA Trophy – 2024 Dates announced

London Business School, the organisers of the Global MBA Trophy, have announced dates and venue for the 2024 edition. Racing will return to the Faliro bay, off Piraeus, while the event will be hosted by the Yacht Club of Greece from its base in Microlimano.

The dates are: Thursday 11th April – Sunday 14th April 2024

Racing will be in Platu 25 sportsboats (Division A) and 40 – 46 ft cruising yachts (division B).

A division A boat ( up to 5 sailors) will cost €3050, while a division B boat (up to 8 sailors) will cost €5040.

POLIMI win their 4th Global MBA Trophy

Ugo Alvazzi del Frate and his team from Polimi Graduate School of Management won a close contest at the Global MBA Trophy regatta in Piraeus, Greece on 21- 22 April. The Italian business school team won by one point over 6 races, winning the last three races to edge out newcomers Reichman business school from Israel.

The regatta was raced hard on Friday 21st, with the race committee getting 4 races away, anticipating lighter airs on the Saturday. 11 Platu 25s raced windward- leeward courses on the bay of Faliron, hosted by the Yacht club of Greece from their base in Microlimano harbour.
